From Llandrindod Wells to Berriew - Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire

Mike Parker and his 'cream dream' van make tracks for Llandrindod Wells where a Victorian festival is in full swing. Mike is bemused by the whole affair and wonders why they don't introduce cholera to the town's water supply as well as parading around in top hats and petticoats.

Leaving the Victorians Mike heads back much further, to Llywelyn the Great's Abbey Cwmhir, an ambitious undertaking that was never finished due to the bloody realpolitik of the twelfth century. Next to the ruins lies the eccentric Abbey Cwmhir Hall which boasts a stuffed cheetah that once belonged to Marlena Dietrich's daughter. Hmm.

Then it's back on the road and off to Kerry, to the little church that high-ranking clergy from the bishoprics of St Davids and St Asaph physically fought over.

Mellington Hall and Montgomery feature but Mike's next stop is Church Stoke and the famously independent Harry Tuffins Supermarket where he buys beer (of course!). A short drive on and Mike is at Leighton Hall where the Victorian poultry house is mansion sized and a grade II listed building.

There's nothing Victorian about his last stop at Berriew near Welshpool. Here he meets punk legend Andrew Logan who takes art into the community in a mock-Tudor caravan
